Dee View Court Residents Take in the Sights at Aberdeen’s Tall Ships Festival

The Dee View Court team recently made waves with a very special outing for our residents to the Tall Ships Races 2025 event, held along Aberdeen’s bustling harbourside. The air was filled with music, laughter, and the sound of seagulls as a group of fifteen residents, supported by dedicated staff, set off to experience one of the most exciting maritime events the city has hosted in years.

Demand for places was high, with several residents putting in last-minute requests to join – but thanks to the flexibility and teamwork of staff, we made sure nobody was left behind. With care and creativity, the team organised transport, equipment and support to make sure everyone who wanted to go, could go.
The day was packed with excitement, from exploring the impressive tall ships docked at Blaikies Quay, to taking in the festive sights and sounds along the waterfront. The ships themselves were a true spectacle – towering masts, colourful flags and crews from around the world gave residents plenty to marvel at.

The photos from the day tell a beautiful story. Big grins, warm laughter, and group selfies in front of the ships were in no short supply. Some residents were thrilled to meet volunteers dressed as seagulls, while others enjoyed simply watching the boats come and go. Of course, no day out is complete without a treat or two – and for many, that meant classic fish and chips enjoyed by the sea.

The feedback from residents has been overwhelmingly positive – events like this are more than just a day out. They create lasting memories, spark conversation, and our residents returned home still buzzing, full of stories to share and smiles that lasted all weekend.
